       acorns underfoot
       the crunch                        his strides on stilts
       goes for a walk                 down main street
                                                children following
            swivel hips rockin' around the clock     hula hoop

                                                        tuning up
                      wind through brush
                      old timer remembers
                      petticoat rustle

          fussy frogs                         White asparagus
          mixed up farm                    illuminates
                                                     the French farm
                                Grunting pigs
                                stuck in the mud
                                can't remember "out"

                               Free of dead wood and regrets
                               I set them adrift

          A mouth is not made for talking.
           A mouth is for tasting this Sweetness.

                             that cold blue night

                             blue moon, blue Miles

                             blowing that blue Bitches

                             Brew, Kind of Blue, blue

                             rain, Blue Note - blue trumpet

                             blowing blue, blue

                             and so gone, gone and

                             blue blown blues away

                       Birch branches dancing

                     In harmony with the night

                        Making not a sound.

    doves resting               in a fold of

    in the cypress               ewes and lambs
                                   one tan goat
             a woodpecker
             taking one seed
             from the feeder
             hides it in the bark
             of a maple

       New Life

       grief--hidden, underground
       tangled like the roots
       of a tree, sometimes
       nurturing fragile new life

                              things unfold
                              as they do
                              and even in that
                              there is
                              a special beauty

    slowly emerging
    the silhouettes of trees

                       after a short journey
                       a chrysanthemum
                       rests on the stream bank

            rocky beach-
            far from splashing waves
            side pools of moonlight
