          mixed up farm                    illuminates

                                Grunting pigs
                                stuck in the mud
                                can't remember "out"

                             that cold blue night

                             blue moon, blue Miles

                             blowing that blue Bitches

                             Brew, Kind of Blue, blue

                             rain, Blue Note - blue trumpet

                             blowing blue, blue

                             and so gone, gone and

                             blue blown blues away

                     In harmony with the night

    in the cypress               ewes and lambs
                                   one tan goat
             a woodpecker
             taking one seed
             from the feeder
             hides it in the bark

       grief--hidden, underground
       tangled like the roots
       of a tree, sometimes
       nurturing fragile new life

                              things unfold
                              as they do
                              and even in that
                              there is
                              a special beauty

    moonlight 
    slowly emerging
    the silhouettes of trees

                       after a short journey
                       a chrysanthemum
                       rests on the stream bank

            rocky beach-
            far from splashing waves
