A stream                              old dog stares
runs through the valley,             long and questionly
Bits of comfort                       into the
Are found                                stove's beckoning flames
In kind words
                                         a quiet moof of melancholy

                                                  like cat's eyes
                                                  doors to inner peace
                                                  open and shut
